access to the practice website if you are ordering medication early, you need to specify the reason for the early request, otherwise it may not be processed . acute prescriptions – it may be possible for some prescriptions to be issued after telephone contact with the nurse or doctor for items such as simple pain killers, creams, etc. ask the receptionist for advice. repeat prescriptions – these your repeat list in to the surgery and ticking the items required. prescriptions can be posted back to you if a stamped addressed envelope is provided. you can request that your prescription is sent after 3.00 p.m. the following working day however: on-line requests – these will be available for collection 48 hours from date of request (if ordered on a working day ). requests made on a saturday or sunday should be ready for collection on a wednesday after 3:00 p.m. (click here for collection times). urgent requests should always be telephoned through to the surgery. arrangements can be made with local chemists to deliver regular repeat medication to housebound patients. repeat medications need to be reviewed at least annually – you may be asked to come in for an appointment to check your medication. annual prescriptions – additionally we offer an annual prescription to patients who have been very stable on their current medications for the past 12 months. this prescription is taken to a pharmacy of your choice and dispensed at regular intervals over the 12 month period – thereby removing the need for you to request your prescriptions or collect them from the surgery. this is called “ repeat dispensing ” and further information is available from reception. online prescriptions – prescriptions which have been ordered online should be ready to collect 48 hrs later. however, if ordered on a thursday, collection will be on the monday after 3:00 p.m. and if ordered on a friday, collection will be on the tuesday after 3:00 p.m. please always indicate which surgery you will be collecting your prescription from. electronic prescription service (eps) – this is an nhs service that gives you the chance to change how your gp sends your paper prescription to the place you choose (a nominated pharmacy) to get your medicines or appliances from. for further details click here . this service is currently not available to send prescriptions for controlled drugs directly to a nominated pharmacy. patients must come into the surgery ( with proof of id ) to collect these prescriptions. test results – we will always contact you if there is a problem with any result. we do not reception to ask for a telephone consultation. the doctor will telephone you when they are able to do so, but if it is an urgent request, the receptionist will allocate this telephone call to the on-call doctor. to help the doctor or nurse, please let the receptionist know why you need to speak with them, this will enable the doctor to deal with your call more effectively. to do this we need to have up to date, accurate telephone numbers. remember to tell the receptionist if you are not calling from your usual address and provide them with a contact number. you may not receive a reply until the end of a morning or afternoon surgery, so it would be helpful if you could let the receptionist know if you are expecting an urgent reply – in this situation the receptionist may ask the
